DISTILLATIONS, An Art Show

The Berkshire Art Association (BAA), presents DISTILLATIONS, an Art Show

Artists Peg Dotchin, Jesse Tobin McCauley, and Ilene Spiewak have met the chaos, confusion and concerns of this moment in their artistic processes. Each artist brings her passion for art and design.

DISTILLATIONS run Friday, October 1 – November 28, 2021 at the Lichtenstein Center for the Arts.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

  • Peg Dotchin, a Berkshire resident, received a BFA from UMass Amherst, and has maintained a Pittsfield studio for more than 30 years. She works in oils, pastels and encaustic. Her work is in many private collections. In recent years, Peg’s landscapes have embodied her growing concern for the global environment. The cool blues and icy tones of her Icelandic images, inspired by a recent trip, appear to melt before the viewer’s eyes.

    Artist Bio

  • The fearless application of paint that Ilene Spiewak brings to her canvases create an intimate conversation. She engages passionately with color while placing objects and tracing lines which express fragility, evoking vulnerability. Where do things touch? Where do they meet? Ilene has an MFA in Fine Arts from the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. She has exhibited widely in Pennsylvania and beyond, and has been active in the Berkshire arts community.

    Artist Bio

  • Bringing an abstract expressionist approach to her work, Jesse Tobin McCauley is a renowned local mural artist and abstract painter working in the Berkshires. She received her degree from Otis College of Art & Design in Los Angeles. Jesse has worked as a creative director in Los Angeles, New York and the Berkshires. In her DISTILLATIONS work takes the energy, chaos and confusion of pandemic times, using bursts of saturated color and energetic line and distilling them into calm and concise color-field shapes.
