BAA Fellowship Show Call for Local Art Students

BAA Fellowship Show Call for Local Art Students

Berkshire County college art majors are invited to apply for the 2017 juried Berkshire Art Association Fellowship Show. Up to $5,000 in prizes will be awarded to students whose work is selected. The show will run from March 3-25, 2017, at the Lichtenstein Center for the Arts, 28 Renne Avenue in Pittsfield. The Awards Reception will be held during First Fridays Artswalk on March 3 from 5-8 pm.

BAA President Danielle Steinmann noted, “BAA is proud to showcase art being created by current college students in and from the county. For some, this will be their first opportunity to present their work at a public gallery, providing invaluable experience for emerging artists. Past recipients have told us how much they appreciated the award, as well. BAA feels it is particularly important to encourage college students who are pursuing visual arts. We need their creative vision in our contemporary world.”

The Fellowship is open to Berkshire County residents enrolled as art majors at any college in the country, as well as to non-residents majoring in art at a Berkshire County college – Berkshire Community College, MCLA, Williams, and Simon’s Rock.

The submission deadline is February 10, 2017 at 11:59 pm. Submission is online via baafellowship2017.artcall.org. Pieces submitted digitally must be available for the March show. A gallery of recent BAA Fellowship recipients may be found at berkshireartassociation.org and on the BAA page at facebook.com/berkshire.art.

The mission of the BAA is to connect artists and the community in order to inspire creativity and increase access to the visual arts. The BAA Fellowship is funded in part by the Norman and Rose Avnet Fellowship Endowment and private donations. Additionally, local artists support the Fellowship through their 10×10 inch art donated to the 10×10 RAP (Real Art Party) at the Berkshire Museum. This year, the 10×10 RAP will be held on February 23, 2017. It is presented in collaboration with Storefront Artist Project and is part of the City of Pittsfield’s 10×10 Festival.
