BAA Fellowship to Showcase Local Art Students
BAA President Danielle Steinmann noted, “The BAA is very proud to showcase the work being created by current students in and from the county. For some, this will be their first opportunity to present their work at a public gallery, providing invaluable experience for emerging artists. Past recipients have told us how much they appreciated the award as well, often using the funds to buy much-needed art supplies. The BAA feels it is particularly important to encourage college students who are pursuing visual arts. We need their creative vision in our contemporary world.”
The Fellowship is open to Berkshire County residents enrolled as art majors at any college in the country, as well as to non-residents currently majoring in art at a Berkshire County college – Berkshire Community College, MCLA, Williams, and Simon’s Rock. The submission deadline is February 12, 2016 at 11:59PM. Entries must be made online via baafellowship2016.artcall.org. A gallery of recent BAA Fellowship recipients can be found at berkshireartassociation.org or on our facebook page at facebook.com/berkshire.art. The BAA will honor the students and present $5,000 in prizes at during an opening reception from 5-8PM. The public is invited.
The mission of the BAA is to connect artists and the community in order to inspire creativity and increase access to the visual arts. The BAA Fellowship is funded in part by an endowment and donations. Proceeds from the raffle of 10×10 inch works of art donated by artists support the Fellowship. The raffle takes place during the 10×10 RAP (Real Art Party) at the Berkshire Museum. This year, the 10×10 RAP will be held on February 18, 2016. It is presented in collaboration with Storefront Artist Project and is part of the City of Pittsfield’s 10×10 Festival.
