Biographical Info

Sarah Adam spent her childhood scribbling on Xerox paper and in the margins of her math books, hoping to someday make a career from her doodles. Now all grown up and fresh out of textbooks, she has turned her attention to creating whimsical illustrations, comics, and abstract paintings. Sarah has worked with a variety of traditional media, including watercolor, acrylic, pencils, and ink. She also creates amusing digital creations using Adobe CS and shoots her own digital photos.

Sarah’s illustration has been published in several coloring and activity books; she has also self-published some of her illustration work on occasion. Her commissions including children’s book illustrations, murals, people and pet portraiture, covers and editorial illustration for newspapers, donations of fundraising materials and a winning mug design for WFCR.

In addition to illustration, Sarah has acquired ten years of experience as a graphic designer. Along with freelance projects, she has worked for a printing company, several print and web publications, advertising agencies, and helped re-brand a local food cooperative. She has experience with publishing for web and print, including pre-press, computer-to-plate, and wide-format printers.

When she’s not occupied with design projects, Sarah turns her attention to abstract painting. Her art focuses on silhouettes and patterns made by natural and manufactured objects, including tree branches, vines, and power lines. She is currently exploring a series entitled ‘Soft Landscapes’ which places the viewer in the car zooming past the woods, grabbing shots of blurry hillsides. Her paintings are primarily acrylic on canvas, wood, and various found surfaces.
