2017 College Fellowship Show

THE BAA HONORS EXCEPTIONAL STUDENT ARTISTS AT 2017 COLLEGE FELLOWSHIP SHOW

On Friday March 3rd, the Berkshire Art Association will showcase the work of 13 exceptional college artists at the 2017 BAA Fellowship Show at an awards reception from 5-8 pm at the Lichtenstein Center for the Arts, 28 Renne Avenue, in Pittsfield. The opening will be part of Pittsfield’s First Friday Artswalk. The public is invited.

The show was juried by a panel representing several visual art disciplines. Of the 110 works submitted, 40 were chosen for exhibition. Cash awards totaling $5,000 will be presented. Rebecca Schnopp of Dalton and Eli Shalan of West Stockbridge will each receive Norman and Rose Avnet Fellowship Awards of $1,000. A gallery of the students’ work can be found on our ArtCall page. The Lichtenstein Center for the Arts is open Wednesday through Saturday, 11 am to 4 pm and the show will run through March 25th.

BAA President Danielle Steinmann noted, “The BAA is very proud to exhibit the work being created by students in and from the county. For some, this will be their first opportunity to present their work at a public gallery, providing invaluable experience for emerging artists. Past recipients have told us how much they appreciated the award as well, often using the funds to buy much-needed art supplies. The BAA feels it is particularly important to encourage college students who are pursuing visual arts. We need their creative vision in our contemporary world.”

The mission of the BAA is to connect artists and the community in order to inspire creativity and increase access to the visual arts. The College Fellowship is funded by the BAA’s Norman and Rose Avnet endowment, donations, and proceeds from special events, including the February 23rd 10×10 RAP at the Berkshire Museum.
